The WaterAid Institutional Funding and Partnerships Team has been tasked with leading WaterAid UK's ambitious new strategy to grow the size of its programmes through restricted income. It is expected that this growth will primarily come from institutional partnerships with some of the world's leading bilateral and multilateral development agencies, including FCDO, USAID and SIDA.

As the Senior Bid Manager in the Bid Management Team, you will lead the bid development process for large complex institutional grants and commercial tenders, working closely with key stakeholders including internal WaterAid colleagues in London and in-country as well as external key suppliers and/or partners towards achievement of WaterAid's strategic programme objectives in priority countries.

This is a permanent full-time position, although requests for flexible working will be considered. It is expected that the role will involve up to 3-6 weeks travel each year (when circumstances permit), and will include some varied and unsocial hours. The post holder should be located in the UK or in a country where WaterAid has a presence, with a reasonable overlap in working hours with the UK.

In this role, you will work with Country Programmes on developing high quality proposals for large / complex grant and commercial tender opportunities.

You'll also:
* Support or coordinate the project design process
* Work with country finance teams to build and review project budgets that reflect the technical design
* Design and deliver training to strengthen the capacity of colleagues in Country Programmes and regional teams in proposal development
* Develop tools and processes to strengthen organisational capacity on bid management, advocating for industry best practice

The ideal candidate will be an experienced bid manager:
* Ideally with a track record of successful bidding for development projects in low income countries, or with significant bid management experience that can be applied from other sectors.
* They will have strong leadership skills, and demonstrative experience negotiating with partners in complex consortia, and in developing proposal budgets.
* Excellent business acumen and ability to negotiate and influence are crucial.

Salary: £38,885 - £44,228 subject to experience for London based candidates. Salaries and benefits for different locations will vary in line with WaterAid's country and regional salary scales. WaterAid benefits vary depending on the country of the successful candidate. For UK-based posts this includes:

Additional Information:
This is an office-based post in a country where WaterAid has a presence - subject to cost and communication with the majority of WaterAid countries being practical. This post will have to work closely with colleagues and a line manager that are currently based in the UK, so time zones that make working in another country practicably feasible will be a consideration.

For London-based position, WaterAid is currently located at Canary Wharf. Due to current restrictions on office capacity the majority of our staff are working from home. All aspects of this including how we are supporting homeworking and the office transition will be discussed at the interview stage with you.
